Contractions

A shortened form of a phrase is known as contraction. This is done by dropping a letter or letters from one of the words or both words and replacing it with an apostrophe.

The following are considered as standard contractions of a noun or pronoun + be:

I am – I’m
You are – you’re
He is – he’s
She is- she’s
It is – it’s

They are – they’re
We are – we’re
There is – there’s
That is – that’s
When is – when’s
Who is – who’s
What is – w hat’s
