Compound Prepositions

Prepositions are usually single words but there are some which are composed of two or three words. These are known as compound prepositions.

Some examples of compound prepositions are the following:

on account of
as of
in place of because of

according to
in back of
in front of
instead of
in place of
owing to
apart from
